Jebel Ali, Sep 9: Jebel Ali Assisi Konkani Community (JAKC), celebrated Monti Fest, the Nativity of the Blessed Mother Mary at St Francis of Assisi Church, Jebel Ali on Tuesday September 8.
Mass in Konkani was offered by spiritual director, Fr Freddy D’Souza and more than 1,300 devotees participated in the religious celebration. In the whole of UAE, Jebel Ali was the only fortunate parish to celebrate the Monti Fest with mass in Konkani on the same day as the feast day.
Children showered flowers as offering to Mother Mary in typical Mangalorean style with the hymn “Moriake Hogolsian”. JAKC president John Monteiro showed his gratitude towards all those nbehind the celebrations including choir group and families who sends the Paddy every year from Mangalore. Vegetarian buffet with Mangalorean cuisine of sweet “Vorn” by Canara Restaurant, Dubai was served for dinner.
