Beltangady, Dec 16: In an accident which occurred at Manjotti in Nada village in the taluk on Sunday December 15, two bike riders were killed, after their two-wheeler got involved in an accident with pick-up truck.
The deceased were Sesappa Moolya (44) from Bheemande in Navoor, and his relative, Kalyani (55), resident of Janata house in Navoor. The bike was proceeding towards Navoor from the taluk headquarters when a pick-up truck that was moving towards the town hit the two-wheeler hard. Sesappa, who was riding the motor bike, was killed on the spot on account of critical injuries he suffered in the accident.
Kalyani, who had sustained severe head injury, was provided first aid at the government hospital here. Her end came when she was being taken to a hospital at Mangaluru.
Sesappa was employed at Mumbai. His wife is in the family way and baby shower had been organized last week. On Sunday, Sesappa was returning after taking part in a programme held at the house of a relative when bad luck struck. The accident happened when Sesappa was just five minutes away from reaching his home.
Sesappa, who is employed at Mumbai, is survived by wife. Kalyani, who was a widow, has left behind two sons.
A case about the incident was registered at the traffic police station here. Police sources said that recklessness on the part of pick-up vehicle driver caused this accident. Post-mortem of the mortal remains were performed at the government hospital here.
