Bengaluru, Dec 14: Down in the dumps, and under compulsion to rebuild the party from its pathetic state, the JD(S) leaders seem to have realized that they cannot entirely rely on the voters of their long-time bastion, Old Mysuru region, anymore. They now want to build the fortunes of the party by concentrating on north Karnataka region where the party has a feeble existence.
Lone JD(S) MP, Prajwal Revanna, has come forward to take the responsibility of rebuilding the party on his shoulders.
The Congress and the JD(S), which were hell-bent on crushing the BJP in the by election, had fielded strongest possible candidates in all the constituencies but they could not stop the advancement of the BJP. The Congress had to satisfy with two seats while the JD(S) bit the dust. The JD(S) leaders who have become desperate with this loss of face, now want to strengthen the party and become a viable alternative.
The party leaders feel that it would be beneficial if they concentrate on north Karnataka where their party is not strong. The party therefore wants to cash in on the image of MP, Prajwal Revann as a youth icon of the party.
As per this strategy, Prajwal Revanna will tour north Karnataka districts after January 15, Sankranti day as per Hindu calendar. He will get entrenched in north Karnataka for a month and give impetus to registration of new workers for the party. He will visit every district, meet JD(S) senior leaders and workers, and discuss ways and means to achieve a turn around. He will be in charge of party building in that part of the state.
Deve Gowda, who has been talking of strengtheing the party's organizational machinery, has planned to utilize Revanna's services to get back the eminence the party one enjoyed in Karnataka. He has asked the leaders and family members to strengthen the party. Towards this end, he has planned to use party's young face, Prajwal. He feels that Prajwal Revanna can create magic and work wonders for the party.
