Mangaluru, Dec 9: A few miscreants who threatened a man sleeping in Moodushedde gram panchayat building by flashing swords at him, stole four cows which were nearby.
The cows belonged to Keshava Jogi from Moodushedde.
Keshava Jogi is involved with dairy farming and his family relies on income from this activity for a living. Four among his cows which were left for grazing, were moving around the gram panchayat building since the last two days without returning to the cattle shed.
A local sleeps at the panchayat building of Moodushedde. At about 3 am on Sunday December 8, an auto rickshaw had arrived near this spot before returning. At about 3.30 am, seven persons who arrived in two cars, brandished their arms at the man who was sleeping, and threatened him against shouting for help. They then loaded two cows and two calves which were sleeping there in their Xylo vehicle before fleeing.
The value of the cattle stolen has been estimated at Rs 75,000. It is learnt that during the span of last two years, nine cows belonging Keshava Jogi have been stolen.
The police have collected video recording of the theft which was recorded in CCTV camera. The police hope to identify the thieves soon.
It is learnt that the family which lost their cattle were extended help at Gau Mandal programme held in the city. Financial help was also extended apart from donating cow and calf to the family.
