Mangaluru, Dec 9: Heath Streak Cricket Academy’s under 18 cricket team visited the city to take part in a cricket tournament which will be held from December 9 to 12 at NITTE university ground.
The associates of the cricket team A J Shetty, chairman, A J Group of Institutions and Rohan Monteiro, managing director, Rohan Corporation, were honoured with the autographed cricket bat here in a function held at Hotel Moti Mahal on Sunday, December 8.
K M Hegde, general manager, Hotel Moti Mahal, took the honour on behalf of A J Shetty.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe under-18 team jersey was unveiled.
Joseph Rego, CEO and executive director Heath Streak Cricket Academy trust, said, "I and cricketer Heath Streak share a good bonding. I was his sports agent in the year 2000. So we decided to set up a world class cricket academy in Zimbabwe. So it is good to bring cricketers from Zimbabwe to Mangaluru. It will be a great exposure for young budding cricketers of Mangaluru. We also want to promote and develop cricket globally.”
As many as four teams, namely Karavali Cricket Academy, Karavali Cricket Clinic, NITTE Education Trust and Zimbabwe under-18 team, will battle it out in the cricket tournament starting from December 9.
Santhosh Misquith, general secretary, Karavali Cricket Academy, Shaun Joseph, Zimbabwe cricket team coach, captain Denly Watama and vice-captain Bryan Reagan were present.
