Bagalkot, Dec 7: The police personnel of Hunagunda station in the district have succeeded in bringing to light the truth behind the death of a man from a rural belt in the district. They have found out that Laxmibai, member of Kallagonala gram panchayat, who had earlier projected as if her husband, Bheemanagouda, had committed suicide, had herself executed his killing.

The police who probed the case have reached the conclusion that Laxmibai, who drew help from her paramour Shivanagouda, a KSRTC bus driver, had murdered her husband on November 26. Both of them together had smothered Bheemanagouda by pressing a pillow and a bag of maize hard on his face on November 26. Later she had told the villagers that her husband had hanged himself.

The villagers believed her and performed funeral of the deceased. But the police who put some probing questions to Laxmibai came to know the actual facts. Shivanagouda and Laxmibai, who is a mother of two children, had illicit affair since the last three years. Bheemanagouda had of late come to know about this. As Laxmibai and Shivanagouda felt that he could be an impediment in their relationship, they planned the killing. Laxmibai confessed that she along with her lover, had committed this murder.
