Mangaluru, Dec 5: An incident of disparaging a lady police constable and asking her to leave the temple that happened recently has attracted public outrage.
Temple priests sent the female constable out of Kadandale Subramanya temple in Moodbidri taluk just because she was a Dalit.
The lady constable was managing the crowd of devotees inside the temple. The priests in the temple got confirmation that she was a Dalit before deciding to send her out. They also reportedly insulted the constable in the presence of thousands of devotees, duly wanting to know who let her in and accusing her of defiling the sanctity of the temple.

Shashti festival was celebrated at the said temple on Monday. The temple is under the control of Mujrai department. As nearly 25,000 devotees participated in the festival, local Moodbidri station police had provided tight security for smooth celebrations.
