Mangaluru, Dec 2: Siddalingana Gowda, the lorry driver who claimed the life of a teacher Shailaja Rao (55) in an accident on December 1 at Kadri Kambla road, has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
The 29-year-old resident of Gadag was arrested and prosecuted under the section IPC 304 culpable, homicide.
The lorry was loaded with furniture items from Bengaluru. It had unloaded a part of things in the city and was moving towards Udupi when the accident took place.
The police claim that the lorry driver, Siddalingana Gowda was driving the lorry recklessly and at considerable speed, which caused the accident.
