Bengaluru: Good news after December 9 - Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Dec 1: Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has given a hint of Congress and JD(S) getting together once again in the state by saying, "We will give good news after December 9."

Speaking to the media in the KPCC office in city, Kharge said, "Of late, power is being misused in the state as well as in the country. In every election, candidates are being threatened by misuse of power. It is 100% sure that the disqualified candidates of Congress and JD(S), who are contesting on BJP ticket, are going to get defeated. The voters of the state will teach them a good lesson. 79% of candidates, who had defected to BJP from NCP and Congress in the state of Maharashtra, were defeated by the voters of that state. Similar fate awaits the disqualified candidates, who have migrated to BJP for the sake of money.”

"By-election of Karnataka is not only going to affect our state but also other states. Some have deserted the party for silly reasons. Those who got the highest amount of work done during the reign of former CM Siddaramaiah, have left the party saying that work is not done by the party. What can be done for MLAs of this kind? I will also campaign for another two or three days and try to make the public understand the truth," Kharge added.

On the query of alliance with JD(S), Kharge said, "Be patient till December 9. Then we will give good news to you. The question of Siddaramaiah becoming CM again, which is used during the campaign, does not arise after the elections. High command will decide about the future leader and CM. Now Congress is thinking only about the reality. Every time you people have said that I will be the CM and president of AICC, but have made me work like this,”

"BJP is trying to win the elections only on the strength of money. They have been successful sometimes. If money power will not work, then they use the religion and caste and play with the emotions of people and try to get sympathy votes. They are trying to break the society in the name of religion,” he alleged.

"BJP made propaganda that if their government is formed in the center, flood of money will come to the state. Central government did not respond to the damage done to property and lives of people of Karnataka. PM Modi did not visit Karnataka at all. He did not even give a damn to the state. We do not know if Modi is taking revenge because of the grudge he has on CM Yediyurappa. People of the state are the victims of this. BJP leaders totally failed to bring in more funds for flood relief from the center. The administrative wheel has completely stalled in the state. CM Yediyurappa is engrossed in the only thought of how to save the government,” Kharge said.

"We are ready to have discussion with our alliance partners in order to save the constitution of the nation. Our president Sonia Gandhi did not wish to make alliance with NCP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. She said that we will sit in the opposition. However, many political parties requested Congress to join the alliance in order to keep communal BJP out of power. All UPA alliance parties will work together in order to save our constitution." Kharge concluded.
