Mangalore, Aug 31: The policemen belonging to Kavoor police station here, arrested a man named Nitesh Moraes alias Roshan Rodrigues (19), a resident of Karimanelu village in Venur, Beltangady taluk on Sunday August 30. Rodrigues allegedly, was trying to sell mobile sets stolen by him, when the policemen arrested him. The policemen have recovered 13 mobile phones approximately valued at Rs 24,000 from his possession.
Most of the sets recovered from the alleged thief are said to be the ones he had stolen from a mobile shop named 'Mobile Cafe' located in Kuloor in the city on August 24. Sirajuddin, owner of 'Mobile Cafe' had filed a complaint with the policemen, about the theft of mobile phones worth Rs 14,000 from his shop. It is learnt that Nitesh has completed PUC education and also works as conductor for city buses on temporary basis.
The policemen say, Rodrigues was assisted by Sandeep Poojary (16) from Porkody village, in the task. Nitesh reportedly, had stolen some mobile phones from a mobile shop belonging to Prem Kumar in Padavanagady. Both these persons had been arrested earlier. Sandeep, who is a juvenile delinquent, continues to be in the juvenile home at Bondel, while Nitesh had succeeded in securing bail. The policemen questioned Nitesh, when he was loitering suspiciously with a bag in hand at Nantoor Junction here and found out that his bag contained mobile phones. The thief revealed that he was carrying the mobile sets for sale at Lalbagh here.
On producing him in the court here, he was remanded to judicial custody.
