Mangaluru, Nov 29: Vincent Prakash Carlo has been conferred upon 'Best Lifter- 2019 award' in the senior national Benchpress Powerlifting Championship 2019 held from November 24 to 27 at New Delhi.
The championship was organized by Sports Association, Delhi affiliated with the Association of Powerlifting
India. Vincent Prakash won two gold medals in the master category and won the award. More than a hundred powerlifters took part in the championship. After a neck-to-neck fight in the final round, Carlo won the medals and bagged the award. Vincent Carlo was trained by Sathish Kudroli and Puran from Mangaluru.
Vincent who hails from Bajjodi, Kulshekar is the only son of Norbert Carlo and Veera Monis. He is married to Flavia Carlo and father of Venizeia Annie Carlo and Vanice Sallon Carlo. Despite being born in a poor family, Vincent took to bodybuilding in his high school and received encouragement from his father though a driver.
In his career, achievements have been many. Apart from winning gold medal at state-level bodybuilding
competitions ten times, he has in his kitty 20 gold medals in the national level competitions and three at the university level. Internationally, despite financial difficulties that have been chasing him, Vincent bagged 14th place in the World Amateur Body Building competition held at Castres, France on September 29, 2007 and sixth place in Indo-Pakistan Peace and Friendship Championship held at Islamabad, Pakistan. In December 2011, Vincent won gold in the Commonwealth championship in London.
