Mangaluru: AICS kho-kho tournament held at St Dominic’s School

Mangaluru, Nov 21: St Dominic’s School, Mariashram–Badakabail, proudly conducted the AICS kho-kho tournament for ICSE and CBSE schools of DK and Udupi districts on their eve of the decennial celebrations on the November 16 at their newly renovated sports grounds.

Boys and girls from 24 schools comprising of 49 teams from both the districts participated in this sports tournament.



The sporting extravaganza commenced with the welcoming of the dignitaries onto the dais. This was followed by a march past by the representing schools.

Fr Francis Arun D’Souza, OP, principal of St Dominic's School, welcomed the gathering.

Lilly Pais, (Assistant Youth Empowerment and Sports Officer) the chief guest, gave her thoughts and declared the kho-kho tournament open by raising the tri colour balloons.

The tournament was divided into 4 divisions:

1. Under 14 – Boys
2. Under 14 – Girls
3. Under 17 – Boys
4. Under 17 – Girls

President for the valedictory function was Fr Biju Sebastian, OP, correspondent, St Dominic’s School, Badakabail.

The following are the winners and runners-up of the kho kho tournament: 

1. Under 14 - Boys
Winners: Bhuvana Jyothi Residential School Shirthady
Runners-up: SMS English Medium School Brahmavar

2. Under 14 - Girls
Winners: BGS Education Centre Kavoor, Mangaluru
Runners-up: Vidyadayini English Medium School Surathkal

3. Under 17 - Boys
Winners: SMS English Medium School Brahmavar
Runners-up: Bhuvana Jyothi Residential School Shirthady

4. Under 17 - Girls
Winners: Bhuvana Jyothi Residential School Shirthady
Runners-up: SMS English Medium School Brahmavar

The winners and runners up of the tournament were honoured by trophies and medals. The programme concluded with national anthem.
