Kuwait (August 17): Kuwait India Fraternity Forum (KIFF) celebrated India’s 63rd Independence Day in remembrance of our forefathers who sacrificed their lives to gain freedom with a fabulous public meeting at Rhythm Auditorium Abbasiya in the evening of Saturday, 15th August 2009.
Martyrs of great freedom struggle prolonged for the long four and half centuries were remembered by KIFF president Mr. Yunus Karanthur. He evoked the memories of fighting of Kunjali Marakkars against first colonial aggressor Portuguese in Malabar coast, Martyrs Hyder Ali and Mysore Lion Tippu Sulthan, leader of First Independence struggle Bahadur Shah Safar, Ulemas and Rulers of North India, Khilafath movement leaders such as Ali brothers, Moulana Azad, Sir Muhammed Iqbal, etc.
The program commenced with the patriotic song ‘Sare jahan se accha’. Hafiz Saifudheen gave the welcome address and Mr. Abdul Salam Pang presided. Subsequently Mr. Yunus Karanthur, Rafiq Manchi, Abdul Azeez Tuticorin, Mr. Alavudheen Ainul Haq delivered Independence speeches in various Indian languages. Speakers urged to be free from the slavery of political parties, fascist organizations and the neo-colonial powers and to create a new India with security, justice and freedom to all, especially marginalized communities. Leaders from different political and community organizations including Mr. Jacob Channepetta, Hasan Saheb Managalore and Sathar Kunnil offered their Independence Day greetings. Vote of thanks was given by Mr, Mohiyuddin and the function concluded with Indian National Anthem.
