Dammam, Aug 16: Shirva Welfare Association, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, successfully conducted the “4th Shirva Summer Cup 2009” featuring 24 teams from Dammam, Al Khobar, and Jubail, played at Rakah Grounds, near Dhahran Exhibition, Dammam on Friday 7th Aug 2009.
AMACO – Jubail defeated CORNICH BLUE CRICKTERS- Al Khobar by 7wickets in the final to clinch “4th SHIRVA SUMMER CUP 2009”.
In the finals, Amaco Captain Niyaz won the toss and put on Cornich Blues to bat. Cornich blues open the innings with Nizam and Mohsin with a good start of 26 in just 2.2 over. Nizam played magnificently with 2 huge sixes; at the score of 30 they lost 2 wickets, Nizam made well 18. and then 3, 4, 5th wickets fall in quick successions. Then Middle order batsman Abdul Aziz contributed 25 runs for the 6th wicket. Abdul Aziz made fine 21 with 2 sixes. Fine bowling and fielding performances of Amaco restricted Corncih Blues at 63 in the score board. For Amaco Tanzeel took 5/16 including a hat-rick and Tafseer took 3/10, Zubair and Shabbier took one wickets each.
Chasing the target – Amaco – Jubail opener Zubair and Latheef put on 20 runs for the first wicket and at the score of 21 they lost both the openers. Then all-rounder Tanzeel batted cleverly with one’s, two’s, and when the total reached to 35 they lost 3rd wicket. In the last 4 over Amaco jubail require 34 runs, then good striker of the ball Nazeer joined tanzeel and played brilliantly with 3 huge sixes, and made task easy for Amaco and grabbled 4th Shirva Summer cup-2009, by 7 wickets. Nazeer unbeaten 19 and Tanzeel unbeaten 12

Prior to this final, a 1st semi final was played between Konkan XI -Jubail and Cornich Blue Cricketers. Konkan XI all-out for 40, fine bowing performances by Ali of CBC took 4/9 and Santhosh Shetty Junior took 3/11, while CBC comfortably achieved the target with 8 wickets to spare, Riyaz made 15 and Ali made 10. Fine bowling performance by Ali of CBC declared man of the match.
In the 2nd Semifinals Amaco Jubail defeated Srilankan sports Club by 6 wickets. Batted first SLSC were 63. Dempsy 13 and Nabavi 18, Fine bowling performance by Tafseer took 5/10, in reply Amaco chased the target in the 7th over. Opener Latheef 25 and Captain Niyaz 19, For SLSC nabavi took 2/3. Fine bowling performance by Tafseer declared man of the match.
After the finals, prize distribution function was organized, in which Zubair Ali, Treasurer of SWA, welcomed all the Guests and Gathers and also prescribed detailed activity report of SWA and about 4th Shirva Summer Cup 2009.
The Special awardees – Man of the Tournament and best Batsman – Zubair of Amaco, for his excellent batting and bowling performances. Best Bowler – Santhosh shetty Junior, of Cornich Blues, Best out fielder – Latheef of Amaco and Best Wicket keeper – Niyaz of Amaco.
Kareem Gurani – of YBA Kanoo, in the brief speech and praised the efforts taken by the Shirva Welfare Association for the cause of community.
The Chief Guests and sponsors of this tournament, Mohammed Haneef Patel of Al Anwaar optical and Arif Yunus Patel of Asian Computers, distributed trophies for the winners and runners-up.
Mohammed Hussian (Ammi) President of Shirva Welfare Association presented mementos to the sponsors, invitee guests and appreciated the efforts and hard works of all the members’ through-out the tournament.
Former Secretary of Jamia Masjid Shirva – Meeran Abdul Khader, Sheilk Rizwaan Mangalore, Ravi Karkera and Santhosh Shetty of MASA – Dammam unit, Mansour Ali Ahmed of JF unit Dammam, Mohammed Sulaiman – Jubail, and Anura of Sri Lankan sports Club, were also presence in the function.
In the last, Mohammed Siraj, of SWA proposed Vote of thanks to Sponsors, Guests, and all, for the necessary help and support during this tournament for the benefit of poor and needy people of the costal village of Shirva, Udupi, Mangalore, Karnataka State.
