Udupi, Nov 8: “The sayings of Mahatma Gandhi that his life by itself is a message should be a guiding light for people and students. Gandhiji is relevant even for present times because we are making his dreams of Gram Swarajya and Swachh Bharath into reality,” said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha. He was speaking after inaugurating rare display of the pictures and video of Mahatma Gandhi held in Udupi Board High school on Thursday.
“There is no difference between the talk and work of Gandhiji. He has shown simple ways of living and campaigning. He has guided by less talk and more work. He was saying that none of the work is below dignity and was washing the toilet himself. We should try our best to walk on the path shown by him. The programme of showing his life history by photography and video to students and people here is commendable,” he said.
“Most of the children do not know about the life of Gandhiji. The more adorable person in the world was in our country. Children do not know that he gave independence to the country by truth, non-violence, sacrifice and other values. Parents should inform about Mahatma Gandhi to children. Students and people should watch here the pictures and twenty minute long video of Gandhiji and get inspiration from them,” said deputy commissioner Jagadeesha.
The exhibition of pictures on Mahatma Gandhi will be held in Udupi board high school from November 7 to 9 from 9 am to 5 pm every day.
Mahatma Gandhi is the most photographed person when photography was not common. The originals of those photographs are in the collections at Gandhi national museum, New Delhi.
