Mangalore, Aug 11: The Dakshina Kannada (DK) district committee of Popular Front of India (PFI) conferred the ‘Campus Awards–2009’ in a ceremony at Coastal House here on Monday August 10.
Those students of the Muslim community who scored high marks in the recent SSLC and II PUC examinations were presented with the awards.
PFI district committee member Abubaker presided over the programme on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Abubaker said that realization had come to the community that it was behind educationally. “The community can surge ahead only if empowered educationally. Hence, it’s the responsibility of the entire community to ensure that none of its students discontinues education due to economical constraints or any other reasons”, he said.
PFI state secretary Elyas Mohammed also spoke on the occasion and reiterated the views expressed by Abubaker.
Community students Mohammed Zahid Siddique and Anjum Fatima Yacoub who secured highest marks in SSLC, as well as Mohammed Sanavulla Haleyangady and Rameeza Farangipet who secured the highest marks in II PUC, were presented the awards.
PFI DK district chief secretary A M Atavulla, Puttur taluk secretary Hanif T S, and Udupi secretary Ismail were present on the occasion.
Sharief Bajpe welcomed the gathering. Sharief Jokatte compered the programme.
