Udupi, Oct 31: “Aadhar Card and Ayushman Bharath, the two major schemes of government of India, are recognised at the IPU meeting held at Serbia recently. These schemes represent India,´said MP Shobha Karandlaje. She was speaking at the interaction programme with the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharath scheme at the BJP office at Kadiyali here on Wednesday, October 30.

Shobha further said, “The merging of Ayushman Bharath with Arogya Karnataka scheme is not the right decision. I have spoken to chief secretary Vijay Bahskar and chief secretary of CM Ravikumar regarding this. He said that there is no objection from the people representatives but they are facing problems by government officials.

“We were pressurized by the government to exclude government hospital referral letter to 3A category diseases. Major diseases like cardiac disease, cancer, and kidney fall under this category. Chief minister also understands the reality. People will face problems when they added 3A to Arogya Karnataka scheme.

“The earlier state government tried to mislead the people by merging the scheme. Modi wants financially poor families to get justice and health facility of the government.

“India is a developing nation and majority of the population are below poverty line. Orisaa has highest number of BPL card holders in the country. There is difference in the list of centre and the states with regards to BPL card holders. There is scam of duplication of BPL cads on a large scale in Karnataka. Because of that, needy people are not getting this benefit.

“Most of the families are financially poor because of two reasons. They are spending money on marriage celebration of their children and hospital expenditures. People are borrowing money for these two reasons.

“Beneficiaries have shared their experience of Ayushman Bharath scheme. Most of them have claimed more than Rs one lac when their family member met with an accident or on diagnosis for major diseases or surgeries.

“A senior citizen said that there is lack of awareness about the Ayushman bharath scheme in the rural area. The panchayat members should promote this scheme at ground level so that it reaches the common people, who are in need of the same.”

“Beneficiaries have told that they are paid not only medical charges, free medicines but also travelling charges and food expenses. This is a great scheme for poor family.”

Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, district BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, district panchayat president Dinakar Babu, vice president Sheila K Shetty, district panchayat members, Geethanjali Suvarna, Shilpa Suvarna, Suresh Naik, Sumith and others were present.
