New Delhi, Oct 27: The union government has asked former Prime Minister (PM) and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda to vacate the government bungalow provided to him as a guest accommodation since he has lost the Lok Sabha elections.
The Vittal Bhai Patel House at Lutyens' in the capital was reserved for Deve Gowda as a guest accommodation. Similarly, the central government has asked 25 former MPs also to vacate the government accommodations that were provided to them when they were in power.
According to Lok Sabha regulations, a MP has to vacate the government accommodation within one month of losing the position. However, in the case of former PM H D Deve Gowda, already five months are over, since he lost the Lok Sabha election. The 16th Lok Sabha was dissolved by President Ramanath Kovind on May 25.
