Mangalore, Aug 7: As the later part of a three-week training the IAS officers were to undergo at USA, after the conclusion of the training currently being imparted to them at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussorie, Uttarakhand, has been cancelled, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj and Udupi deputy commissioner P Hemalata are expected to take charge of their respective districts on August 10 or 11. It is learnt, the proposed training in USA was cancelled because of the widespread swine flu scare in that country.
The training was to be given to IAS officers from June 29 to August 21. At present, zilla panchayat chief executive officer N S Prasanna Kumar was functioning as the in-charge deputy commissioner in Udupi while additional deputy commissioner Prabhakar Sharma has been discharging the duties of the deputy commissioner.
Out of 99 IAS officers posted for the above training,,, 12 IAS officers from the state including the deputy commissioners of Raichur, Bagalkot, Koppal, Kolar, Gulbarga etc., participated in the training.
