Bangalore, Aug 2: KROSS’ Fifth Batch of Career Advancement Programme for students aspiring to appear for the Civil Service Examinations (2009-2010) was inaugurated by Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras at Nava Spoorthi Kendra, Cooke Town, Bangalore on Saturday August 1.
Archbishop Bernard Moras in his address told the students that they are the ‘Salt of the Earth & Light of the World’. They should work hard and thus strive to bring out their talent, abilities, intelligence to the fore. They were also asked to apply their talent with responsibility and become true leaders acting to the will of God, he said.
Archbishop also released Kross newsletter in Kannada called 'Alegalu to cater to Kannada readers.
Thomas Lazar presented a report whereby all the participants were briefed on intensive coaching to be given to Catholic graduate/post graduate students to take up the Civil Services Examinations of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). A total of 31 students from 11 Dioceses have been selected for the academic year August 2009 to April/May 2010 out of which 17 are female students.
The objective of this programme is to prepare youth, especially those from the rural and socio-economically backward sections for various entrance examinations conducted by government bodies. Fr Thomas Jayaraj, Fr Xavier, Fr Paul, Sr Florine Menezes, Sr Genevieve, Fr Divyapaul & Fr Balraj were present.
The programme started with Word of God & prayer song. Fr Peter Brank, Director KROSS, welcomed the gathering. Programme concluded with vote of thanks by Preetham D’Souza
