Udupi, Aug1: G Shankar Family Trust on Saturday August 1 distributed scholarships to students and provided financial assistance to needy Yakshagana artistes of undivided Dakshina Kannada district at a programme held in Family auditorium here.
Nitte Education Trust President N Vinay Hegde inaugurating the programme said that it is very important that one does not forget the society and help the same society after achieving success in life. He called on students to give back to the society that encouraged them to be successful be it the environment they grew up in or teachers who guided them.
Students Mahima Shenoy, Swastik Upadhyay, Supreeta Hegde, Swathi S and Divya Nayak were felicitated on the occasion. Newly appointed members of State Yakshagana Academy Sanjeev Suvarna and Murli Kadekar too were honoured. Trust donated Rs 1 lac to Yakshagana Kalaranga.
R B Agawane, state principal secretary, public works, ports and inland water transport department presided and Dr Udayshankar, director admissions, Manipal University was the chief guest. Trust president G Shankar delivered the introductory address and Tenkanidiyur Government Pre-University College Principal M Basavarajappa was present.
