Bantwal, Oct 16: The accused of the milk parlour burglary which took place a week ago in BC Road, was finally apprehended by the Bantwal police.
The accused, K Mohammad Salam, is a resident of Salumara in Puttur taluk. Reportedly, the police found in his possession a bike, some cash among other stolen goods worth approximately Rs 60,000.
Earlier on October 5, before the arrest took place, a Nandini Milk store along the BC Road's service route was broken into by the perpetrators. The thieves fled the scene after emptying the cash register. Soon after, the owner of the shop filed a complaint regarding the incident at the police station.
More than a week later, Salam was arrested on October 14, when Bantwal police spotted a bike rider behaving suspiciously, during their night patrol. The officers decided to follow him only to find him trying to escape. Once they were successful in nabbing him, interrogation revealed that Salam was involved in a couple of robberies in the area.
Apart from Bantwal area, cases have been registered against Salam at Puttur and Madgaon in Goa among several other police stations.
Salam is in police custody and will be presented in the court.
