Mysore, Aug 1: A student of the local origin, presently pursuing his M Tech course from R V College of Engineering, Bangalore, got into trouble because of an obscene e-mail sent to President Pratibha Patil's e-mail address. Avinash Kashyap, the student in question, is academically inclined and is perceived to be good-mannered.
Police sources said, Avinash had opened a social networking ccount in the name of the President Pratibha Patil in February/March this year. President's security cell, which tracked this account, ignored it till obscene posts started appearing on this account.
After the IP address through which the account was opened, was traced, the Delhi policemen came here. Avinash's father then asked Avinash to come down from Bangalore for interrogation, which he did. He was arrested and then released after obtaining bail. It is learnt, Avinash had sent the obscene message from his IP address to the first citizen of the country, on February 9 this year.
The hard disk of the computer located in the home of the boy was seized by the policemen. The e-mail reportedly originated from this computer. While the boy claimed, his friends had accessed his e-mail ID and password, his father Ramachandra Potti, a retired bank official, believes that his son can never undertake this misadventure. He feels, someone has hacked his son's IP address and sent the e-mail.
