Kundapur, Oct 16: The department of railways has consented to the efforts of former MP J P Hegde for a stop at Kundapur for Kochuveli-Ganganagar train.
Railway passengers have been demanding for a stop for the train for the last ten years. State minister of union railway department Suresh Angadi has officially announced the stop in his letter to former MP Jayaprakash Hegde on October 15.
Jayaprakash Hegde had met railway ministers in Delhi on July 3 in this connection.
The train will reach Kundapur from Kerala at 6.40 am every Sunday and proceed via Goa, Gujarat’s Silvasa, Vapi, Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, Bikaner and reach Ganganagar. It will be convenient for those who go to Goa and return soon on the same day, those who want to reach Mumbai in the evening, people of Kundapur staying in Gujarat coast including Silvasa, Vapi and those who want to reach Rajasthan. The stop will also be helpful for devotees of Kollur Anegudde as it will proceed to Kerala every Thursday at 1.30 pm.
