Moodbidri, Oct 15: Officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the taluk office here on Monday October 14 and conducted verifications. It is learnt that the raid was conducted based on the complaint filed by an individual.
The riding team comprised of one superintendent of police, five inspectors, seven head constables and four constables, who were drawn from Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Karwar divisions. They conducted checks of Atalji Janasnehi department, survey department, and office of the deputy tahsildar. A total of eight persons including officers and other staff of the office were questioned.
During the check, Rs 66,000 excess cash was found, it is said.
In-charge superintendent of police Sudhir Hegde, providing information to the media about the raid, said that this happened to be the first ever raid in Moodbidri for the ACB. He said that a small amount of excess money was found and the staff have given clarification. He added that if it is found that the excess amount is not backed by suitable documents, suitable action would be taken.
