Mangaluru, Oct 11: Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial Besant Institute of PG Studies in association with Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd., has hosted the ‘MRPL-MSNM Besant Inter-collegiate Quiz Competition’ as a part of MRPL’s Vigilance Awareness Programme for students. The theme for this year is ‘Integrity - A Way of Life’.
Students from 23 colleges participated in the competition which was held at the institute’s campus at Besant Vidya Kendra, Bondel, Mangaluru. They received participation certificates, as well as certificates for taking the integrity pledge. The results will be announced on the 30th of October 2019 at the valedictory function of the Vigilance Awareness week.
Girish K Rao, GM (HR) of MRPL inaugurated the programme by lighting of the lamp. Prior to this he also cut the ribbon for a kiosk for taking the integrity pledge. He spoke on the menace of corruption in society. Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice President of Women’s National Education Society (WNES) inaugurated the ‘selfie booth’. He spoke on the level of corruption prevailing in all sectors.
The institute director Dr Molly Chaudhuri said the youth should bring about a change in society to build a better world with integrity for themselves and for the future generations.
The program began with a prayer by Megha of II MBA. Usha Mogra, assistant professor welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Keerthi Prasad, manager, Vigilance Department spoke of the significance of Vigilance Awareness and the purpose of the Integrity pledge. Suresh Shenoy administered the Integrity pledge to all present.
Other dignitaries present included members of Governing Body Nagar Narayan Shenoy and Ganesh Bhat; Praveen Pinto and other officers of MRPL, faculty members, staff and students of MSNM Besant.
