Puttur, Jul 25: Headmaster of Sri Ramakunjeshwar Sanskrit higher primary school of Ramakunja in the taluk, T Narayan Bhat, has been chosen to receive the best teacher award in primary school category at the national level. He is the son of Subraya Bhat and Bhagirathi Bhat couple from Tota in Ramakunja village. He will receive the award at New Delhi on Teachers Day, September 5.
Bhat, teaching in the said school, being run under the guidance of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt since the last 31 years, has been its headmaster for the last 17 years. He was selected for the district level best teacher award in 1994, and for the state level best teacher award in 2005. He had played a major role in his school being adjudged the best school in the entire taluk, for four years. He has been actively involved with motivating rural children to get educated.
Bhat has been adept at imparting education in a way the children get interested in the subject and gain knowledge. The practice of drawing pictures on the school walls that is prevalent now as a means of imparting knowledge, had been introduced by Bhat in his school many years ago. He gave equal importance to extra curricular activities in addition to regular education, towards shaping the students into good citizens. Even though he mingles freely with the children, he has been giving lot of importance to discipline too.
Pejwar Mutt senior Swamiji Sri Vishweshateertha has expressed happiness about the fact that Narayan Bhat has been chosen for the national level recognition for his meritorious service in the field of educating rural children.
