Mangalore, Jul 24: In-charge deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district and district magistrate Prabhakar Sharma, through an order issued on Thursday July 23, banned movement of excessively loaded vehicles and ore trucks on district roads including the stretches of the national highway 13 and 48 in the district, from midnight on Monday July 27 to August 31.
A release from the office of the deputy commissioner said that the decision has been taken, considering the possibility of the normal life of the people of the district being thrown out of gear, due to the road accidents, bridges getting damaged and the roads suffering extensive damages, because of the movement of vehicles carrying heavy loads here. In addition, the possibility of the huge vehicles moving to the port here through the highways in the district, as their movement has been banned by the Udupi district administration also contributed to this decision, it added.
