Sandeep Malani’s Sridevi tribute at Vintage International Film Festival

Mangaluru, Oct 2: It is a proud moment for Mangalurean filmmaker Sandeep Malani, who has enough reasons to be happy. Being a Sridevi ardent fan, he has had his musical documentary screened at various film festivals in the last two years. While it was screened at Cannes, as a tribute to the actress, it also made rounds at Rolling Reels and Indian Cine Film Festival held recently in Chennai and Mumbai. Now, the documentary titled ‘SrideviBaaz – Sridevi Lives Forever’ has got its way as the Opening Film of the prestigious Vintage international Film Festival in Kolhapur.

SrideviBaaz is a short musical narrative documentary on Sridevi’s life and career. With pictures to say about her and her some famous video songs of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films, it also ends with the memories and best moments captured of her with Malani family (Sandeep, Reshma and Silver). Edited by Santosh Chawla for The Studio Agency, it’s been presented by Sandeep Malani for his production Malani Talkies.

With 75 films from 25 countries, the Foreign films includes Persian, Korean, Kurdiah, French, Dutch, Portugese, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Swedish and other languages, while Indian films that made to the festival include Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Malwani languages.

Malani’s Music video on woman empowerment titled ‘Bandagi: Respect woman’ also is part of the festival screening. Bandagi lays emphasis on various topics and issues that the celebrities (Sudha Chandran, Adaa Khan, Sonal Monteiro, Janu Arasu, Harshika Poonacha, and Komal Atmaramani) talk about. The various topics in the video is to create awareness in the society to stop child marriage, dowry system, rape, molestation, eve teasing, domestic violence etc and encourage education for the girl child, adoption, rights for women in the society etc. It also gives importance to motherhood. The video song features Meena Malani, Reshma Malani, Mahesh and Anita Dulam, Ranjeet Jha, Akash Hora, Mahendra Pandey, Sanjukta Ghosh, Shubha Raksha, Bharath Lakshmikanth, Vishal Digani, Chirag Kundapur, Varsha Acharya, Jyoti Harindranath, Cherrie Ash, Vivek Punjabi, Karan Sharna, Prayas Singh, Sharanya Kaur, Mann Hora, Shivam Kataria, Jagruti Mehta, Chitranjani, Vivek Mishra, Anant Vijay Joshi along with Aditi and Sriman Dulam and Silver Malani.

Vintage International Film Festival is to be held on October 5 and 6 at Kolhapur. The festival will have feature, short films, documentaries, music videos. It has been organized by Sachin Bhoiraje (Chairman) and Chetan Padole (Festival Director). The two day long festival ends with an Awards ceremony that will honour the best of the films been screened at the festival.
