Karkala, Sep 30: The 11th Graduation Day ceremony of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, here was held on September 29 at the institute premises.

Dr K Kasturirangan, former chairman, ISRO was the chief guest of the function. In his Graduation Day address, Dr Kasturirangan advised the students to consider the obstacles in life as stepping stones for success. He also emphasized the importance of knowledge related to arts, crafts, architecture and aesthetics as part of Engineering education. He wished the graduates professional success and happiness, to enable them to contribute to the creation of wealth and value-based technological development in society.

N Vinaya Hegde, president, Nitte Education Trust and chancellor of Nitte deemed to be university presided over the function. In his presidential address, he congratulated the graduates on becoming professionals and urged them to do justice to their profession and their land.

Graduates who passed out during the academic year 2018-19 received their graduation certificates during the occasion. Gold and silver medals were awarded to the following students:

Dr Parameswaran, director of Industry Institute Collaboration, Dr Subramanya Bhat (dean, Student Welfare) Dr Rajesh Shetty (dean admissions and alumni affairs) and heads of the various departments were present during the event.

Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, principal, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte welcomed the gathering. Vice-principal and dean (Academics), Dr I R Mithanthaya read out the names of gold and silver medallists. Dr Muralidhara, PG coordinator read out the names of MTech graduates. Dr Karuna Pandith, professor, department of MCA read out the names of MCA graduates. Vice-principal and controller of Examinations, Dr Srinivasa Rao B R proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Ujwal, Professor from the department of Biotechnology Engineering was master of ceremony.
