Kasargod, Jul 21: The case pertaining to the recovery of the bodies of Laveena (26) from Kollangana and her 13-day old baby from a well of Kollangana village near here, took a turn after the policemen who are investigating incident, stumbled upon an illegal hooch making unit in the compound of the house of the deceased.
The policemen have since registered a case of harassment and abetment of suicide, against Marcos Rodriduges, husband of Laveena. Reportedly, Marcos used to subject his wife to mental torture on a daily basis, forcing her to jump to the well along with her newborn baby, the policemen claimed.
During the raid, they found a huge pit alongside the toilet behind the house of Marcos that was used for fermentation process to make hooch. The fermented liquid was being pumped out with the help of a motor pump. Various other items used for this activity were also seized by the policemen.
