Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (PH)

Udupi, Sep 27: Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said that ban on plastics will be implemented very strictly from October 2. He was addressing the media at his office on Thursday, September 26.

DC Jagadeesh further said, “Anything which comprises of plastic is completely banned. It may be plastic plates and spoons, flex, banner, thermocol etc. Strict action will be taken against manufacturing and distribution of plastic. Local and urban bodies are taking some measures against the plastic manufacturers and distributors. For the first instance, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed on those violating the rule. Second time offenders will attract a fine of Rs 2,000. If found guilty for the third time, trade license will be cancelled under Section 4 of Karnataka Public Places Disfigurement Act.

“Legal action will be taken against flex manufacturers and printers if found violating the rule. Officials would be raiding commercial complexes as well as hotels from September 27 to October 2,” he said. The DC further said, “Now people have adapted themselves to digital media. Outdoor publicity plays a very small factor in influencing them these days. Today, most of the people buy things based on the reviews in social media and by its influence. Those interested in advertisement and branding their product must use cloth banners after getting permission from the urban or local bodies.”
