Udupi, Jul 20: The website for ‘Asrey’, home and school for special children, was launched at the Manipal University (MU) building here on Sunday July 20.
Rotarian Dr Vasant Prabhu from the Central Chester Rotary Club, USA, officially launched the site, www.archanatrust.org here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vasant Prabhu praised the efforts of Archana Trust in first starting a centre for special children and then launching a website to give details of the works being done by the trust and Asrey. He appreciated the initiative and support by MU.
He said the Central Chester Rotary Club would join hands with the Udupi Manipal Rotary Club and provide a matching grant of Rs 14 lac to equip Asrey and the Autism Centre which is to come up in the same building.
Rotary district RI 3180 comprising nine revenue districts is planning on having four autism centers, one of which will be at Asrey in Manipal.
MU pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal, said that the university is always happy to support a good cause and lauded the efforts of Archana Trust in taking up the cause of special children. He complimented the Trust for starting the website.
MU registrar Dr G K Prabhu was all praise for the website. He expressed happiness at the speed it was developed with and the professionalism involved.
Sri Mahakali and Janardhan temple trustee and Archana Trust trustee Vijay Ballal said with the blessings of Goddess Mahakali the work was progressing well.
A contented Jai Vittal said that true to the expectations and promise of the Trust on June 15, the website has become a reality. He appreciated the support from MU and the Central Chester Rotary Club of US.
