The complainant works in a private company in the city in the capacity of business analyst. Rahul and she were in an affair since May last year, but had decided to end the relationship a few months back as they fought often. She said that even thereafter, Rahul used to call her frequently, and was sending messages regularly in an effort to force her return to him. "I asked him not to contact me as I did not want to hold on to this relationship. But he began harassing me through mails, WhatsApp, Instagram and other social media. He also called me from different telephone numbers," she explained.
The woman said that Rahul Singh gatecrashed into her house and stole one of the phones she owned on September 1. He got access to her Facebook account from there, and changed the password, after which she said she went to HSR Layout police station to file complaint, but that the police got an affidavit from Rahul, undertaking to keep distance from her. She said that the police failed to register first information report, and that Rahul did not stop following and harassing her. She met deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Isha Pant, on September 12, after which an FIR was lodged.
The lady said that after the DCP talked to the police, they promised to take Rahul into custody but did not do so. "Later, the police told me they were speaking to his father. I now understand from my lawyer that Rahul has secured bail. Although the police say that they have been discharging their duties, I am worried about my own life. Rahul's father is in a powerful position in the central government. He called my mother and told her that he would not be responsible for the consequences of approaching the police," she stated in a complaint she personally delivered to the commissioner of police.
The lady says that Rahul stopped calling her over phone after filing complaint, but began to create fake email IDs and other social media accounts in the names of her close relatives including mother and sister, and began to use abusive and threatening language against her. She stated that on September 18, Rahul followed her from a distance when she was going home, duly seated in an auto and holding something in hand. As the road was deserted she said she had to run to her home. "He somehow appears to know where I am, at what time I leave office, whom I approach etc. He has been sending emails through fake email accounts," she said.
Police personnel of HSR Layout station claim that they have been investigating the case but desisted from revealing anything else.
