Kasargod, Sep 25: In an operation launched in Kozhikode international airport on Tuesday September 24, gold weighing 1.467 kg, which was smuggled into the country from the Gulf region, and 1.5 kilograms of ganja that was supposed to be transported to a foreign country were seized by air customs department officials.
The value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 1.33 crore.
In connection with the ganja detected at the airport, Ummer Farooq (29) and Abubakkar Mottayil (30), both from Kasargod, were arrested.
The gold was found to have been concealed inside the toilet near the emigration counter of the airport. However, the officials could not find out who hid the gold there.
