Bantwal, Jul 17: The water level of the Netravati River here has receded to 8.2 metres from 8.5 metres on Thursday July 16. The floods inundated several houses across the taluk following incessant rains and gales since Wednesday July 15.
The houses of Montimar in Manchi village and Shanthaveera Poojary in Navoor were extensively damaged in the floods. Houses of Jayaram Poojary in Panchikall, Annu Naika in Mudupadukodi, Maimuna in Kavalapadoor, Appu Gowda in Kukkippady, Parameshwar in Pilathabettu, Bifatuma in Kanyana, Mohammed in Vittal Padnoor, Arati in Veerakamba village, Aithappa Naika in Vittal Mudnoor, Vasu in Pudu village, Unni Beary, Poovappa Poojary, Kamala, and Satish, were partially damaged in floods.
The revenue officers held a survey of flood damage under the direction of Tahsildar C N Manjunat and are co-ordinating relief measures.
Following severe flooding that affected several houses in Panemanglur, near here, the personnel of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from Tamil Nadu arrived on the spot on Thursday, as requisitioned by the district administration.
The home guards and police personnel are also on stand-by duty in case the water level rises further and necessitates rescue efforts.
