Belagavi, Sep 21: “The government at the centre has provided additional economic strength to states on recommendations of fourteenth finance commission. Therefore, the states need not go to the centre for rehabilitation of flood victims,” said BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.
“Narendra Modi has made sure that the states get additional grants after he became the prime minister. The prime minister has taken the decision so that the states do not knock at the door of the centre for compensation,” he said.
“Our state is financially strong. Therefore, chief minister B S Yediyurappa has announced compensation for flood victims from state funds. The chief minister walks about as if wheels are tied to his legs even at this age. The allegations of opposition parties that the centre does not respond is meaningless,” he said.
“NDRF team and the army which came to the rescue of flood victims are in the control of union government. Union home minister Amit Shah and finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman who conducted aerial survey had come as the representatives of the centre,” he informed.
