Mangaluru, Sep 21: Mulky police have arrested main accused in the case connected with the theft of gold ornaments and valuables from Thokur Lord Subrahmanya temple near here on Thursday September 20. This theft had taken place in the year 2016.

The arrested accused happens to be Pari Vishal Fonanke, a jewellery merchant from Mumbai.

After the said theft, the Mulky police who had undertaken probe, found out the whereabouts of the theft-accused and arrested them. However, their efforts to arrest Vishal, who had bought gold from the thieves, had failed as he was evading arrest. Vishal also faced two cases in Puttur rural station and a case in Bhatkal station.

Mulky head constables, Sudheer and Dharmendra, who came to know that Vishal was to be present in the Puttur court relating to a case on Thursday, went there but by then he had left. The police, who did not lose hope, followed the trail of his mobile phone number. They succeeded in arresting him from Kankanady railway station.

After sustained questioning, the accused confessed that he was the accused they were looking for. A case was registered against him and he was produced in the Moodbidri court. He was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
