Bengaluru, Sep 14: In an incident which happened in Singayyanapalya within Mahadevapura police station limits in the city on Friday September 13, a workshop owner identified as Chalapati (38) was hacked to death with lethal weapons.
Chalapati was the resident of Ambedkar Nagar near Garudachar Palya. He was running Gayatri Engineering Workshop in Singayyanapalya. A gang of four which arrived in a car to the workshop sent two workers at the lathe machine away before attacking Chalapati with swords and machetes indiscriminately. They left after making sure that Chalapati was not alive. The locals immediately took Chalapati to a nearby hospital but he had breathed his last before reaching there due to heavy bleeding from the deep wound inflicted on his head.
Quarrel at procession: It is learnt that during the Ganesha immersion ceremony, Chalapati had a fight with Murali and Manjunath from Ambedkar Nagar over silly matter. The petty skirmish at the procession had developed into pitched street fight. Chalapati had objected to Murali's behaviour in addressing his father in the singular. This issue was also informed to the police.
Prasad, younger brother of Chalapati, said that Murali, along with his associates, had killed Chalapati. The gang, which arrived in a Maruti Swift car, attacked their boss, the workers who were threatened and pushed out of the workshop, stated. It is said that Chalapati also was identified as a BJP leader in the area. Accused Murali and Manjunath are said to be active Congress workers.
Mahadevapura police have registered the murder case. Search for the murder-accused is on.
