Mangaluru, Sep 12: In a turn of events, court has sent a stay order on the exhibition of popular Tulu movie 'Girgit'. The order was passed by the junior principal civil judge justice Harish. This is given based on the accusation that the lawyer fraternity has been defamed in the movie.
Senior lawyer M P Shenoy argued in favour of the Bar Association in the court and accordingly the court has passed a stay order on the exhibition of the movie. The release from Mangalore Bar association says, "An injunction order has been passed against the Tulu movie Girgit for the derogatory, defamatory statements against the advocates and for the mockery of the judicial system of the nation. The injunction order has been passed by the Principal civil judge, DK Mangalore in O. S 1152/2019. The matter in support of the advocates (Mangalore Bar Association) was argued by advocate M P Shenoy.”
The Mangaluru Bar Association has called for a press conference in this regard in their office at 4 pm on Thursday, September 12.
In the meantime, president, honorary president and the office bearers of CATCA (R) and Tulu Kalavidara Okkuta have asked all the artistes of the Tulu film industry to gather at the court premises of the city at 3 pm on Thursday to request the Mangalore Bar Association to withdraw their argument thereby removing the stay on the movie.
