Mangaluru: Srinivas College celebrates Thiruvonam 2K19

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Students of College of Hotel Management and Srinivas University College of Hotel Management and Tourism celebrated 'Thiruvonam 2K19', the traditional festival of Kerala with great pomp and show at its city campus in Pandeshwar Mangaluru on September 6, 2019.

The institute continued its tradition this year, with the twist of celebrating 'Thiruvonam 2K19' as against Onam every year. The celebration was intended to promote the learning of event tactics and hotel operations among hotel management students and also to inculcate cultural integration among the students of different regional fraternities. Dr P S Aithal, vice-chancellor, Srinivas University, Dr Annayya Kulal, medical officer, Srinivas Group were the chief guests of the event. Yakshith, vice-president, Students Council welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering.



Prof Swaminathan S, Dean, College of Hotel Management & Tourism, faculties of various disciplines and students were present on the occasion amongst other guests and sponsors. As part of the formal programme, the prizes were awarded to the winners of flower carpet competition 'Pookalam 2K19' held on September 4, 2019. Sanath Shetty, president, Students Council delivered the vote of thanks. The function began with Chingari Mela, a tradition of vigorous drumbeats from Kerala. Cultural programmes, Onam Sadya, a traditional delicacy of elaborate meals from Kerala was prepared and served by students and games were the highlights of the event.
