Udupi, Sep 5: Catholic Educational Society (CESU) Udupi, celebrated Teachers' Day on Wednesday, September 4 at St Francis Xavier English Medium School, Udyavara.
Chief Guest for the day, MLC Bhojegowda, offered floral tribute to the portrait of Late Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
“Christian institutions are focusing more on health and education. A radical development is needed not just in education field, but also in the facilities provided to teachers. God will not forgive us, if we forget teachers, who made education revolution possible. Though many teachers are not getting the facilities they deserve, they strive for the development of their students,” he said.
He assured to work for the development of teachers. “Today’s children are blessed and fortunate to be part of good education institutions. As teachers, we should aim to provide life education. Today’s parents are spoon feeding their children and doing work for them. Parents are not teaching, how things need to be done. If they cannot face their life, how can they face society? Allow them to live independently. Children need societal knowledge. So parents and teachers should teach life education,” stressed Bhojegowda.
“The country faces a shortage of teachers. If there are no good teachers, how can we build a good nation?” the MLC questioned.
He further advised, “One should not be a linguistic fanatic. Hindi language is very important in India. If we do not know English, it is difficult to live in other places. So we need to learn different languages. We should be proud of our languages.”
