Mangaluru, Aug 31: The finale of the English literary week was held on Friday at Gonzaga school hall.
Associate professor of St Aloysius College and chief guest of the occasion Dr Alwyn D’Sa, senior coordinator of ‘The Teachers Foundation’ and guest of honour Patsy Lobo, principal, Fr Melwyn Lobo SJ and vice principal, Jacintha D’Costa graced the occasion.
The students put up an enigmatic performance of mind-blowing items which included phonic song, report of the activities, poetry recitation, rolling the red carpet, skit, song, Shakespearean play unleashing their hidden talents within.
Dr Alwyn D’Sa congratulated the team of students and staff for putting up a wonderful programme. He opined that along with academic performance the different skills that a student acquires through such activities will help them in their higher education and life thereafter. The guest of honor, Patsy Lobo highlighted the importance of English and encouraged them to develop a lifelong reading habit.
The principal, Fr Melwyn Lobo advised the students to cultivate writing habit along with reading books and encouraged the students to become poets and writers in the field of education.
A series of activities like storytelling, puzzles, recitation, picture composition, word building, extempore, book review, elocution, advertise your product, comic series conducted during the week were a great exposure to literature for the Gonzagaites from kindergarten to class X.
The English literary week was indeed an epic in all ways and successful in creating awareness of the beauty of English among the students.
