Mangaluru, Aug 31: District Youth Congress staged a protest here at the Congress office on Friday, August 30, against the union government accusing it of misusing central departments like Income tax and Enforcement Directorate.

Addressing the protestors, District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai said, "Union government is trying to target Congress leaders by misusing departments like Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate.” He also condemned that ED has opposed D K Shivakumar’s plea seeking protection from arrest.

“The union government is targeting leaders of the Congress party for no reason. BJP leaders who are involved in illegal activities are walking free. BJP leader Janardhana Reddy spent over Rs 500 crore for the lavish wedding of his daughter. The IT or ED did not show any interest in the matter and neglected the issue completely,” said Mithun Rai. At the same time, Mithun Rai warned of severe protest if union government continues to misuse the departments under it.

Scores of protestors gathered during the protest and raised slogans against the union government.

When the protestors tried to block roads, Police arrested Mithun Rai and other Congress leaders.
