Kalaburagi, Aug 30: Former minister Priyank Kharge has accused that since the BJP has assumed power in the center Enforcement Directorate (ED) is used as a weapon against opposition political parties.
Speaking to the media, Priyank said, "ED is used as a weapon against the opposition political parties by BJP since it has assumed power in the center. In Karnataka also they are using this central organization for ulterior motives and trying to weaken various political parties. A few days ago, former finance minister P Chidambaram was taken into custody by the ED officials based on the statement of a murder accused.
"BJP is blackmailing other party people by using all the organizations like CBI, IT and ED. Nowhere it is proved that former minister D K Shivakumar is guilty. BJP government is becoming unstable in the state. So they are abusing the central organizations in order to keep the opposition under control.
"The president of KPCC post is not vacant. Dinesh Gundu Rao is our president. The Congress high command has so far not given any instructions with regards to the change of guard of KPCC president. There is no information in this regard from the high command. This is the creation of media."
Former minister D K Shivakumar had spoken with the media on the morning of Thursday and said, "I have not committed any mistake or raped anyone or stole money. In order to protect our MLAs politically, they were held in a resort. So now we are experiencing lots of harassment. Does not matter we have to face everything."
"When someone tried to do good to others, these things happen. The supreme court has quashed the appeal put by us on Thursday. Now I have booked the flight and am going to Delhi to meet the lawyer," said D K Shivakumar.
Former minister D K Shivakumar further said, "ED served me the summons at 9.40 pm on Thursday and asked me to come for an inquiry at 1 pm. Before that I will conduct a press meet and go to Delhi. I have one or two hours of personal commitment. So I am leaving. Do not follow me."
