Hassan, Jun 30: Former minister B Shivaram has informed that minister of state in the union railway ministry Muniyappa has promised to start day train between Mangalore and Bangalore within the next ten days.
"Considering the long-pending demand and organizing of protests for the day train, I had met Muniyappa and discussed the issue with him. He immediately spoke to railways general manager Chaturvedi and gave the promise to start the train within the next ten days," Shivaram informed.
This day train will move to Bangalore from Mangalore via Hassan. This will be a very convenient form of travel for a majority of travellers, Shivaram said. He also informed that he has requested the railway ministry to expedite the direct railway link between Hassan and Bangalore, which is progressing at a snail's pace now, by releasing enough funds in this year's budget.
