Mangaluru: Rs 3.5 lac worth of foreign currency seized from Dubai bound passenger

Mangaluru, Aug 30: The CISF personnel of the International Airport of the city found a Dubai bound passenger carrying foreign currency worth Rs 3.5 lac during the frisking process at the Security Hold Area (SHA) at around 7 pm on Thursday, August 29.

The passenger is identified as Ulwar Khaeraha Ji. He was scheduled to fly by the Air India Express flight IX 813 to Dubai. He had concealed the foreign currency in the inner pocket of his trousers in a bundle. However, the frisking point CISF officer on duty was able to detect the same.

The accused was carrying Saudi Riyal 18,500, UAE Dhiram 260, Bahraini Dinar 100 and Rs 2,200. The approximate value of the currency is equivalent to INR 3,54,000. The passenger was handed over to the customs officials for further investigation. Custom officials are investigating further.
