Mangaluru: Red Cross unit inaugurated at University College

Mangaluru, Aug 28: "Clean environment keeps the mind clean and pure, which creates humanity in youth," said Dr Nagarathana K A, professor, department of Zoology, University College Mangaluru.

She was the chief guest, for inaugurating the Red Cross unit at the University College, Konaje on August 24. She gave a talk on the aim, objective and activities of youth Red Cross. “Students in their college life, along with other activities, should join the Red Cross and other organizations to help the needy people irrespective of cash, creed and religion and serve the nation and see the enjoyment of helping others. Be a frequent blood donor to save lives and keep yourself healthy. The Red Cross Society was founded in 1920 by Claude Hill and is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to serve humanity,” she said.

Principal of the college, Prof Anitha Ravishankar, in her presidential remark motivated by saying donating blood is beyond the caste and. Miyaz, lecture welcomed the gathering. Prayer was presided by Anushka and Sinchana, and Soumya was the compere, vote of thanks was given by lecturer Shafiyulla. Lecturers Bhuvana and Jothi were also present.
