Udupi, Jun 29 (The Hindu): The Sri Krishna Gita Vidyapeetha was inaugurated here on Sunday.
Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math said that the vdyapeetha would offer a four-year course, with special emphasis on the study of the Bhagwad Gita. Already 20 students from the State of Meghalaya had enrolled their names for the course, he said.
The course fees, including the boarding and lodging facilities for students of the vidyapeetha would be borne by the Paryaya Puttige Math. Local students could also join the course. Classes would be held from 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. free of cost. Students could avail this opportunity ever after their school hours, he said.
The course would include four stages. Besides memorising the chapters of the Gita in phases, students would be instructed with hymns and stories connected with the Gita, the seer said. Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math said that it was essential to propagate the Gita to the world. It was like a constitution for the mankind, he said. Seers of Bheemanakatte Math, Thambihalli Math, and Balagaaru Math were present.
