Mangaluru, Aug 19: The Tulu club of Sharada Degree College, Devinagara, Talapady organized, 'Padimancha- Aatid Onji Thamana', a one day inter class Tulu cultural fest for all its students.
The fest is the signature event of the college in celebrating the great month of 'Aati'. The highlight of the fest was that each class had to depict the rich Tulu culture, tradition, lifestyle in their respective classrooms in a creative and traditional way. In order to do so, the students decorated their entire classrooms, wore traditional attire, arranged Tulu antiques, prepared food items and sang songs. The fest showcased rich Tulunadu food cuisines, rare antiques, medicinal plants and leaves and more importantly ancient customs.
In the formal function, Prof M B Puranik, president of Sharada Educational Institutions, inaugurated the fest. In his address he said, "Nature is a special gift to humans and our Tuluva forefathers used it in a special way for prayerful worship by remembering all the Gods of nature. Our protection and survival is because of nature and we have to take care of it like a child." Dr Kabinale Balakrishna Bharadwaj, principal of the college presided over the function highlighting the specialty of 'AatidOnji Dina'.
The programme was graced by the presence of Vivek Thanthri, CEO, Sharada Vidyanikethan, Vinayak B G, Sushma Dinkar, Lathanjali Rai, principals of Sharada Vidyanikethan, Madhav K, vice principal of Sharada Degree College, Preetham Shetty and Supriya M K, the convenors of 'Padimancha'.
The III BCom, 'NOGA' won the first place, while I BCom, 'UJJERA' bagged the second place and III BBa, 'MUTTALE' secured the third place. Manuraj Shetty, compered the programme, Preetham Shetty, convenor of the fest welcomed the gathering while Sahana proposed the vote of thanks.
